Oral Dental Surgery

Seriously damaged, decayed, diseased teeth or those causing crowding may not be salvageable through root canal therapy. Fortunately, your dentist can extract such a troublemaker, with Oral Dental Surgery for minimal discomfort and excellent results. Either local or IV anesthesia is available, depending on patient age and preference. Dr. Hucklebridge will completely numb the area, and make certain you are comfortable before starting treatment. After the tooth is successfully removed, rest and antibiotics are prescribed so the area is allowed to heal.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

Often, wisdom teeth cannot come in to their proper position, or they become impacted because the mouth is too small to accommodate them. Such partially erupted teeth harbor bacteria and promote infection; trapped teeth can sometimes develop unhealthy cysts or tumors. Fortunately, potentially problematic wisdom teeth can be evaluated and extracted before they cause such problems. Generally, since tooth roots are not yet fully developed and bones are softer prior to the age of 20, such an evaluation should be done in people between the ages of 16 and 19. We will take a panoramic x-ray to comprehensively view the jaw joints, sinuses and any impacted wisdom teeth. The extraction procedure itself requires only a few steps, after which rest and following a complete list of post-operative instructions will minimize any discomfort.
